Duck Farm in Thmor Koul District Flourishes, Catering to Local and Tourist Markets

PHNOM PENH, September 9, 2024 — Ty Sokroeun, who runs a flourishing duck farm in Tuol village, Rong Chrey commune, Thmor Koul district, Battambang province, has successfully expanded his market reach to include Battambang as well as Pursat and Siem Reap, attracting orders from tourists visiting these regions.

Having operated for four years, the duck farm has grown significantly, now requiring additional workers to manage the increasing demand for its ducks and eggs.

Drawing on years of experience passed down from his father, Sokroeun navigates the complexities of duck farming with expertise. He acknowledges the challenges, particularly the loss of some ducks during the intense summer heat, though he notes that such losses are few. Disease among the ducks is effectively managed through diligent vaccination and careful monitoring.

The farm offers competitive pricing, with females priced at 2,200 riels each and males at 500 riels. For bulk purchases of 2,000 ducklings or more, delivery services are provided. Towards the month's end, the farm typically ramps up its sales to meet the heightened market demand.
